St. Methodius and St. Cyril
St. Methodius and St. Cyril were brothers who lived in the 9th century in Greece. They were from Thessalonica (where St. Paul spent much of his time in the early days of the church; you have heard readings announced as “A reading from the letter of St. Paul to the Thessalonians”). St. Methodius was older born in 815 and St. Cyril was born 12 years later in 827.
The two brothers loved Jesus and became priests......

St. Catherine of Ricci
Alexandrina of the Ricci family was born in Florence, Italy in 1522. At the age of 13, she entered the Dominican order of sisters and took the name Catherine.
All her life, she loved the Lord and thought always of his Passion and agony. She prayed that the Lord would allow her to suffer as he did. Thus, she bore on her body the same wounds our Lord suffered during his crucifixion.

Our Lady of Lourdes
On February 11, 1858, our Blessed Mother made her first of 18 appearances to a 14-year old girl named Bernadette Soubirous of Lourdes, France.
Bernadette was a sweet, good girl but very sickly. Her family was so poor that they lived in what used to be a jail. Bernadette had problems learning to read and write and had trouble remembering her catechism lessons. Nonetheless, she always tried her harde.....

St. Scholastica was the twin sister of St. Benedict. They were born in the year 480 in central Italy. Scholastica was a friendly, intelligent girl who age gave herself to the Lord and promised always to follow in his footsteps.
When her parents died, she went to visit her brother St. Benedict who had left home at an early age. By this time, he was in charge of a sizable group of monks, had built a large monastery .....

St. Apollonia
St. Apollonia lived in Alexandria, Egypt, in the third century where she spent her whole life in the service of the Lord. As she reached her more elderly years, the persecutions by Emperor Philip became intense. St. Apollonia went to prison to comfort the many Christians that were thrown into captivity for their religion and beliefs. St. Apollonia did not try to hide her allegiances to the Lord as she encouraged the prisoners.....

St. Jerome Emiliani
St. Jerome Emiliani was born into a noble family in Venice, Italy in 1486. He was a strong and talented young man who became a military leader. At a young age he was put in charge of a fortress high up on a mountain during the invasion of Maximilian I.
During the attack on the mountain, he was captured and taken prisoner. He was thrown into a dungeon. While imprisoned, he realized how he had ignored Jesus all his life.&n.....

St. Agatha lived in the 3rd century in Sicily. She was an exceptionally beautiful girl and word of her beauty reached the governor. He had her brought to his palace. There, he tried to make her commit sins against the body and the Lord but she would not give in. She prayed to Jesus for protection.

St. Jane Valois, born in 1464, was the daughter of King Louis XI of France. The king was very disappointed when she was born because he wanted a son. He also rejected his little daughter because she was deformed. When Jane was 5 years old, he sent her away from the castle to live with another family.
Despite being abandoned and treated so poorly, she loved everyone and grew up in the friendship of Jesus.  .....

St. Blase was born in the 3rd century to a rich family in what is now modern day Turkey. He was given a Christian education. He realized even as a child that the people of the day seemed to experience constant difficulty and chaos in their lives. He came to the conclusion that only spiritual joys can truly make a person happy.
He became a priest and then a Bishop and went about doing all that he could to help people know.....

St. Brigid of Ireland
A few years after St. Patrick arrived in Ireland, a little girl named Brigid was born. Her father was a lord named Dubthac and her mother was called Brocca.
Brigid was quite beautiful and very devoted to Jesus. Ever since she was a small girl, she would see Jesus in the poor and bring them food and blankets. One day she gave away a whole pail of milk which was very valuable, even for a wealthy family. &.....
